Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the TrueNorth Tree Company LLC website and your engagement of our tree care services. By accessing our website or entering into a service agreement with TrueNorth Tree Company LLC (“TrueNorth,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Services

TrueNorth Tree Company LLC provides professional tree removal, trimming, pruning, stump grinding, brush removal, and related tree care services to residential and commercial customers in Marion, Reed City, Evart, Osceola County, and surrounding communities in Michigan.

All services are subject to a written service agreement or contract executed between TrueNorth and the customer prior to the commencement of work. These Terms apply in addition to any signed service agreement. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and a signed service agreement, the signed service agreement shall control.

2. Estimates & Pricing

TrueNorth offers free, no-obligation estimates for all services. Estimates are based on the scope of work described or observed at the time of the estimate. Final pricing is confirmed in the written service agreement signed by both parties.

Estimates may change if the actual scope of work differs materially from what was described or if unforeseen conditions are discovered once work begins. TrueNorth will notify the customer of any pricing changes before proceeding with additional work.

3. Payment Terms

Payment terms are as set forth in the signed service agreement. Standard payment terms for TrueNorth are:

  • A deposit of 25% of the total contract price is due upon signing of the service agreement
  • The remaining balance of 75% is due on the day services are completed following a final walkthrough
  • Accepted payment methods include cash, check (payable to TrueNorth Tree Company LLC), Venmo, Zelle, and credit/debit card
  • Invoices not paid within 30 days of the completion date are subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month on the outstanding balance
  • A $35 returned check fee applies to any check returned for insufficient funds

TrueNorth reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies for collection of unpaid balances, including recovery of reasonable attorney’s fees and collection costs.

4. Scheduling & Cancellations

TrueNorth will make every reasonable effort to complete scheduled work on the agreed date. TrueNorth reserves the right to reschedule jobs due to unsafe weather conditions, equipment issues, or other circumstances beyond our control. Customers will be notified as promptly as possible of any scheduling changes.

Customers who need to cancel or reschedule a job must provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in forfeiture of the deposit at TrueNorth’s discretion. No cancellation fees apply when TrueNorth initiates a reschedule for safety or weather reasons.

5. Customer Responsibilities

By requesting services from TrueNorth, you represent and agree that:

  • You are the legal owner of the property where services will be performed, or you have full legal authority to authorize the work
  • All trees, stumps, and branches identified for removal or trimming are located on property you own or have legal authority to authorize work on
  • You will disclose any known underground utilities, irrigation systems, invisible fence wires, or other hazards prior to work beginning
  • You will keep all persons, children, and animals clear of the designated work zone for the duration of the job
  • You will ensure clear access to the work area for TrueNorth’s crew and equipment

TrueNorth is not responsible for damage caused by the customer’s failure to disclose known hazards, underground installations, or property disputes.

6. Scope of Work & Changes

The scope of work is defined in the signed service agreement. Any changes to the scope of work — including additional trees, stumps, or services — must be agreed upon in writing by both parties before the additional work is performed. Verbal agreements to change the scope of work are not binding on TrueNorth.

7. Liability & Disclaimers

TrueNorth Tree Company LLC carries full general liability insurance. A Certificate of Insurance is available upon request.

Tree work involves inherent risk. Despite TrueNorth’s best efforts, minor incidental disturbance to grass, landscaping, or plantings may occur during the ordinary performance of tree work. TrueNorth is not responsible for such incidental disturbance.

TrueNorth’s liability for any claim arising from a service agreement shall not exceed the total contract price paid by the customer. TrueNorth is not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.

TrueNorth calls 811 at least 2 business days before any stump grinding or ground disturbance for public utility locates. 811 does not locate private systems. The customer accepts responsibility for any damage to private underground utilities, irrigation systems, or invisible fence wires not disclosed prior to work.

8. Right to Stop Work

TrueNorth reserves the right to stop or pause work at any time if, in TrueNorth’s professional judgment, conditions create an unacceptable safety risk to workers, the customer, or bystanders. Work will resume when conditions are safe. No penalty or refund obligation arises from a work stoppage for safety reasons.
